Before I get into the legal and technical stuff, let me just say that this is my personal author website. I use it to share information with current and future readers. I don’t have any other agenda.
That said, this is a website, and like nearly all websites it uses software that has implications for privacy. So I’m going to tell you about that.
Who I am
My given name is Paul von Hippel. I write children’s books as Paul Pineapple. I’ve had that name since I was three, when I couldn’t pronounce my own name and someone misunderstood me. I’ll tell you the whole story sometime.
What personal information does this website collect?
This website can collect personal information in a few different ways. We have taken steps to ensure that the personal information of children under 13 is protected in accordance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
Email list
If you subscribe to the email list (newsletter), you voluntarily share your email address. You don’t have to join the list, and if you do you can unsubscribe at any time. Your email address will be stored by my email program, currently MailerLite, which has its
own privacy policy.
Parents, teachers, librarians, and others aged 13 and older may sign up for the email list.
Contact forms
This site includes a contact form that lets you reach me through email. When you fill out the contact form, you share your name and email address.
We have implemented reCAPTCHA v3 on our site and your use of reCAPTCHA v3 is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. reCAPTCHA is used to fight spam and abuse on our site. reCAPTCHA works by collecting hardware and software information, such as device and application data, and sending these data to Google for analysis. The information collected in connection with your use of the service is used for improving reCAPTCHA and for general security purposes. It is not used for personalized advertising by Google.
Embedded content from other websites
